Keeping Your Garage Door Secure
Tips on Garage Door Safety.
People like to feel safe and secure in their home. We want to share a few practical tips with you for keeping your garage doors and openers safe.
OHDAnywhere®
First, always treat your garage door remote like a house key. Never leave the remote control in the car, or with a parking attendant. Overhead Door® has a product called the OHDAnywhere® which is a great option if you park a car outside at night.
When you and your family are turning in for the night always double check to make sure your garage door is shut. Our current Overhead Door® garage door openers have a sure-lock feature on the wall console, and you can lock your garage door at night or while away on a trip. We also recommend locking the door from the garage to the inside of your home as well. This will give you greater safety and security.
Overhead Door’s Code Dodger®
Make sure your garage door opener features rolling code technology which changes the access codes each time the transmitter is used to prevent code grabbing. Overhead Door’s Code Dodger® system has been a standard feature on our full line of openers since 1995.

Wireless keypad remotes
Wireless keypad remotes activate the garage door with a personal identification number (PIN). This allows family member to open the garage doors without a key or a remote. Never disclose your PIN or leave it written down. Treat it like your ATM PIN.
